Beary and Swartenbroek Family Papers
Taylor Beatty Diaries
Microfilmed copy of the diaries of Taylor Beatty (Beattie), Sr. of Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The diaries document his activities during the Civil War and his later years as a sugar planter and a lawyer who attended court in Houma, Napoleanville, Thibodaux, and New Orleans, Louisiana. Reel 1 contains Volume 3, dating from 1861 to 1865. Reel 2 contains Volumes 4 through 12, dating from 1883 to 1917.
Center for Traditional Louisiana Boatbuilding Oral History Collection
This collection comprises oral histories collected by the Center for Traditional Louisiana Boatbuilding. All interviews relate to topics of boats and the history of southern Louisiana, particularly Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish.

Lafitte Country
This resource contains microfilmed copies of unpublished, original typed accounts based on interviews conducted with Louisiana residents of “Lafitte Country” (near Barataria) in 1939. Topics include Berthoud (Berchaud) Cemetery, All Saints Day, St. Joseph’s Day, Voodoo, Adams Family Cemetery, trapping and fishing, shrimp fleet blessing, piroque races, and water funerals. Louisiana Festivals, Fairs, and Cultural Events Collection
This collection spans approximately 5 linear feet and dates from 1971 to 2015. The collection comprises papers (chiefly ephemera), cookbooks, and artifacts relating to festivals, fairs, and cultural events throughout the state of Louisiana.
Mardi Gras Collection
This collection dates from 1881 to 2016, with the bulk of the materials dating from the 1960s to the 1980s. It comprises ephemera, notes, printed materials, and artifacts relating to the celebration of Mardi Gras, predominantly in Southeast Louisiana. These materials include programs for balls and parades, event invitations, promotional materials, notes, krewe histories, doubloons, regalia, and other artifacts.
South Louisiana Oral History Collection
This is an artificial collection created by Ellender Memorial Library from oral histories donated over a period of decades. It comprises oral histories (on audiotape and videotape) and related materials collected from residents of South Louisiana between approximately 1972 and 1998. Interviewees discuss topics relating to local history and culture, including foodways, traditional crafts, race, religion, illness and medicine, education, labor, and industry.
